As we have said many times before, the true key to getting into the best shape of your life is to be extremely educated about everything fitness related. This includes knowing all the different types of workout machines, and exactly what they do, and what exercises they are used to perform. Because so many people are unaware of the names and uses of many cardio and weight lifting machines, we are going to spend this article going over the most common ones, what they’re called, and what they’re oftentimes used to do.

To begin this article, we will first start off discussing cardio machines. The main types of cardio workout machines consist of the elliptical, tread mill, stationary bike, and stair master. The elliptical manages to implement a running based motion that consists of sliding your feet backwards and forwards, rather than actually picking them up. The tread mill is most likely the most common, as it is simply a machine that allows you to run in place. You can adjust the incline and speed of it, and can use it for just plain walking as well, if you prefer. The stationary bike is similar to the tread mill in the fact that it allows you perform a classic exercise in place, rather than needing tons of room. The stationary bike is another of the most popular workout machines because you have the option of choosing virtual “routes”, which thus adjust your speed and resistance level. Lastly, the stair master allows you to climb those difficult stares without ever leaving your home or gym. This is one of the most difficult workout machines to use because many people think stair climbing to be very tiring, no matter what speed you have the machine on.
Now, weight workout machines generally don’t have specific names or titles that go with them; usually they’re just referred to by the type of exercise that they allow you to perform. There are leg lift workout machines that work on strengthening your calve muscles, as well the muscles that also run up your thighs. The pull up workout machines work out your arm and back muscles, giving you a great overall workout that strengthens almost half of your entire body at one time. Ab machines also work on strengthening your abdominal muscles, and some even have certain options that allow you to work out your back muscles as well.
